Making Money With Food Part 1: Donut Cheeseburger

Today we will start a series of blogs about businesses based on food. We've already written about food on a few other occasions, including blogs about bacon, and blogs about fried candy bars.

Howtomakeadollar loves food, especially innovative foods, or innovative ideas with traditional foods.

Today's blog focuses on an innovative combination of two classic american foods: The cheeseburger and the donut. You may think that combining Krispy Kreme with a cheeseburger is gross. But, its not. Its actually a very good idea that has been growing in popularity over the past few years. Its pretty simple. You just slice a donut in half and stick a cheeseburger inside. Other variations include adding an egg, and adding bacon, which Howtomakeadollar supports.

Right now this burger is not widely available, but there is a semi-pro baseball team in St. Louis called the "Gateway Grizzlies," and these burgers are served there at all home games. Additionally the burger has become popular at the Wisconsin state fair.

This works against you if you are trying to buy one, but it works in your favor if you want to sell them. No competition yet.

The best business idea ever and a nutritious breakfast

You know what the people want? Bacon.
The only thing the people want more than bacon is more bacon.

Are you achin' for some bacon? I know I am.
bacon bacon bacon bacon.

You know what else the people want? No? Me neither. The people want bacon, and thats pretty much all you'll ever get them to agree on. So why bother trying any other kind of business? What you need to do is start a bacon business. The best business idea in the world is bacon.

There are many ways of running a bacon business. One basic way of doing it would be a bacon stand. People set up hot dog stands all over the place, and they do pretty good business, but you know what's better than hot dogs? Bacon.

One step above a bacon stand would be a bacon restaurant. Just a regular restaurant like all the other ones people go to. The only difference is that you just serve bacon. And maybe some chocolate milk or something to drink. Think about it. How many days in the past week have you been sitting around with your friends and someone says "lets go get a bunch of bacon." Probably at least seven or eight right?

But you know what's better than a bacon restaurant? Bacon on wheels. You need to get a bacon van. Just get a big van and load it up with bacon. Then drive around town playing bacon-themed music. I guarantee you will have more customers that you can handle. You will be passing out bacon hand over fist, and making money even faster. The people will come to you. The people will run to you.
Bacon is like the cowbell. You can never have enough of it.

Make loads of cash by dipping stuff in batter and frying it

A few years ago I was at one of those big multi-day outdoor concert festivals that you occasionally hear about and some guy there was selling fried Three Musketeers candy bars for like $5 each. He had a bunch of long sticks and he would prong a candy bar like a hotdog and then dip it in the batter. Then he would put it into a big pot of super hot oil and fry it. The chocolate would get all oozy and delicious and the batter would soak it up into one big long delicious fried chocolate stick. I got like four or five of them that day for breakfast and I don't think I've ever had anything else that was nearly as good. It was like angel droppings from heaven.

The next day the same guy was frying oreo cookies in batter. I don't want to say for certain whether the fried oreos were better than the fried three musketeers, or vice versa, because they were both outrageously good. On one hand the three musketeers bar was big enough that a few of them could fill you up, but on the other hand, the oreos were small enough that you could stuff like five or six in your mouth at a time, so its a really tough call here.

I forget how he was making the oreos because I know you can't put an oreo on a stick, and I know he wasn't reaching in the hot oil with his hands to get them out. I guess this is just one of the mysteries that may never be solved.

Bottom line is that this guy was onto something extremely profitable and extremely easy. All you need to do is get a bunch of sugary, chocolate-based fat, dip it in batter, and then dip it in more fat.
